About the Fun Run Series
The Fun Run series is a multiplayer mobile racing franchise for iOS and Android, developed by Dirtybit, a game studio based in Bergen, Norway. Since the original Fun Run launched in 2012, the series has accumulated over 150 million downloads across all titles worldwide.
In every Fun Run game, players race as cartoon animal characters in PvP real-time multiplayer races, using powerups like sawblades, lightning bolts, and bear traps to sabotage opponents. The series is known for its chaotic, fast-paced gameplay — often compared to Mario Kart for mobile — and its focus on social play with friends.
The series includes four games: Fun Run (2012), Fun Run 2 (2014), Fun Run 3: Arena (2016), and Fun Run 4 (2023). Fun Run 4 is the current flagship title and is actively updated with new content. Fun Run 3 is also still active. Fun Run 1 and Fun Run 2 are no longer playable.
Many players first discovered Fun Run at school or with friends in the early 2010s. The series became a social global phenomenon, spreading through word of mouth and #funrun trending on Twitter. Fun Run 4 carries forward that same chaotic social multiplayer energy with modern graphics and deeper gameplay.

The original Fun Run was a real-time multiplayer racing game where up to 4 players raced as animal characters and used powerups to sabotage each other. It was one of the first synchronous multiplayer games on mobile.
Fun Run spread through schools and social media, with #funrun trending worldwide on Twitter. The game reached #1 on the US App Store and won Apple's Best Free Apps of 2013 in 10 countries.
In 2018, Dirtybit announced the end of updates for Fun Run 1 and removed it from app stores. The servers were shut down on January 18, 2021, making the game no longer playable.

Like Fun Run 1, Fun Run 2 was removed from app stores in 2018, and its servers were shut down on January 18, 2021.

Fun Run 3 introduced the 8-player Arena elimination mode, where players compete in larger races and only the top finishers survive each round. It also added Slam and Slide mechanics, over 30 powerups, deeper clan features, and Clan Battles in a 2v2 mode.
Fun Run 3 remains active and continues to receive updates from Dirtybit.
